Students of ASPU Basic School in the mysterious world of Mashtots letters

"Today is an ordinary, at the same time an unusual day, Today’s lesson is ordinary, at the same time unusual." October 15 was a real holiday for the first graders of Basic School N 57 of the Pedagogical University.

During the game-trip to the Matenadaran - Institute of Ancient Manuscripts named after St. Mesrop Mashtots, the children ‘travelled to a land of unknown letters’ to discover the mysterious world of letters, to walk along the bright path of knowledge and to find the key to Mashtots’ letters.

The excited students said that instead of using images and picture during the learning process, they will host letters in their classroom which will enable them to read, write and open the door to science.

“Hey, children, let's guess what might be hidden behind the secret door. We have learned letter “A” and we have found the key to unlock the magic door. It will lead us along the bright path of knowledge,” the first graders said adding that the Armenian alphabet was created by God’s will and it has magical powers.

School Principal Naira Toghanyan congratulated the schoolchildren and their parents, considering the event as one of the most important events in their lives. Class teacher Karine Chibukhchyan stressed that the day will leave an indelible impression in the hearts of her students and will be remembered for a lifetime.

Celebration of letter “A” was a great event for all first graders. In their speeches, they confessed their love for the Armenian alphabet and assured everyone that the letters are their home, they are the soldiers and masters of their language.

“Let us write with your help, let us read with your help, let us love our language, let us be worthy of our Mashtots, let us be honorable sons…”
“It is with great pride that we started the Armenian Alphabet parade and celebration of letter "A". From now on we should read and write, live and fight, love and win with our golden Armenian language. Just as the day is a holiday for 1st graders, it is the first major holiday [for me] at Basic School N 57. I would like to thank the school administration and first graders for the warm welcome and support in all issues,” said Ani Soghomonyan, the second class teacher. She moved to Armenia from Artsakh and joined the school staff this year.
