Syunik Region in Lems Nersisyan's Paintings

An exhibition by Lems Nersisyan, Professor of the Chair of Fine Arts, Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Armenia, Doctor of Pedagogy, opened at ASPU on March 7.

Representatives of the academic staff, artist’s fans, art lovers and students attended the opening of the “My Syunik” exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of ASPU.

"With his rich colour palette, Lems Nersisyan presents the natural world around us in a new way. His paintings are characterized by immediacy, warmth and mood of spring colours. They seem to have the answers to all questions that have accumulated inside us at the moment. Syunik is revealed by the colours and moods that one has inside at that moment. Today "My Syunik" exhibition is actual, also in terms of territory, values and geography, «said Acting Rector of ASPU Srbuhi Gevorgyan.

The head of the university added that the painter has made them happy many times with his creative works and solo exhibitions. In 2019, another exhibition of the artist's paintings entitled "Spiritual Monuments of My Armenia" opened at the ASPU Museum.

Professor Srbuhi Gevorgyan wished that the spring mood and inner harmony prevailing in the exhibition open new opportunities for attendees to develop their potential and creativity, and double their value approaches.

Stunning landscapes of Syunik province ranging from Meghri, Agarak, Kapan, Goris to Zorats Karer (Karahunj)…More than 60 works by painter Lems Nersisyan are put on display.

The painter says apart from artistic perceptions, "My Syunik" also has a political context. The southern gate of Armenia (Syunik) is the center of the world's attention today. “Today we all need to show patriotism. Many have heard about the beauty your, my and our Syunik, but they have not seen it. The aim of the pilgrimage which lasted one and a half months was to discover [through paintings] Syunik with all its charm,” said the artist.

Director of the ASPU Museum Alvard Grigoryan says there is a school and mastery, but Lems Nersisyan's paintings attract viewers with their delicacy, colours, and unique ability to start a dialogue with a human soul.

The exhibition “My Syunik” will run until March 21.
