By the initiative of the Students Scientific Society of the ASPU Faculty of History and Law an intercollegiate conference headed “Terrorism as a Global Issue” was held with the participation also of the YSU students.
The Dean of the Faculty Edgar Hovhannisyan referred to the terroristic groups and their activities in the modern world, particularly the terroristic activities of the Islamic State.
He noticed that within that menaing, Armenia and Diaspora are also situated in risk zone.
“The topic of international terrorism is important, it is a subject for study and is extremely urgent; in that perspective the selection of the topic is welcomed”.
The Vice-Rector Srbouhi Gevorgyan referred to commenting on the phenomenon and its historical development issues observing that terrorism is interpreted by different sciences in different ways, after which she spoke about the psychological factors, which prepare a fertile land for terroristic activities.
“Terrorism may vary, it can be political, economic, informative, psychological, which have clear issues and objectives first of all aimed against statehood, civil society, democracy. Unfortunately, there is incorrect understanding of that phenomenon, which is also proved by social surveys”.
And last but not least, during the intercollegiate conference the reporters referred to the history of terrorism, international justice, Islamic extremism, terrorism grounds and modern manifestations as a global issue, the secret army of liberation of Armenia and other topics.
