The continuing journey of Sergo Yeritsyan

The Cinema House in Yerevan hosted the presentation of the film “Continuing Journey” dedicated to Professor of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), Doctor Sergo Yeritsyan.

The script was written by Head of the ASPU Chair of TV-Radio Journalism, Associate Professor Levon Galstyan and the film’s director, Associate Professor of the Chair Arsen Arakelyan.

The documentary presented the story about the destiny of one person, with messages conveyed from the past to the future, interesting stops during the continuing journey in each of which there was love and devotion, generosity towards average people and the everlasting search for what the scholar, researcher and journalist would say and give.

In the film, a group of well-known intellectuals and officials of his generation were expressing their sincere attitude towards the life and meanderings of Sergo Yeritsyan the man and intellectual, sharing memories of the discovered and undiscovered layers of the exemplary image of the friend, the colleague and relative.

From the screen the audience could see the smile of Sergo Yeritsyan, the man who went too soon, the man who overtly spread the warmth of family to the people in the audience, who gave him rounds of applause. The attendees were very touched by the film “Continuing Journey”.

“A lot has yet to be said about Sergo Yeritsyan. The film devoted to Yeritsyan was created through the efforts of his co-workers and friends in the educational environment in which he spent the last years of his life, and it was done with great pleasure. There are scholars and artists of various fields who leave a certain trace with their work. They do their job well, gain the sympathy of the public and receive laurels,” Levon Galstyan stated, adding that there are few who establish systems, but Sergo Yeritsyan succeeded in establishing an academic school of journalists within an Armenian university, laying the educational foundations for the teaching of journalism with his monographs, studies and articles.

“The idea of the film was born by Karine Titanyan and Armen Amiryan. I didn’t have much contact with Sergo Yeritsyan, but I was able to admire his experience and professionalism,” the film’s director Arsen Arakelyan said.

Arakelyan said shooting the film was rather interesting for him in terms of discovery of the character of Sergo Yeritsyan as a professional and as a human being. The film director views this film as an informative and documentary TV film that tells the story of Sergo Yeritsyan’s life, representing journeys to search for the Armenian trace.

Sergo Yeritsyan brought to television the free and uninhibited speech of average people, was able to satisfy conventional TV viewers, stressed the key issues in the sector and pursued solutions to those issues.
Holding different offices didn’t change his human character; as stated in the film, “he was able to stand the test of office”.

Television is my life — this is what Sergo Yeritsyan said on camera, lavishly sharing episodes of his life to those who are alive, who always value his legacy in a new way and try to live by his messages.

Among those attending the film dedicated to journalist, publicist, public and state figure Sergo Yeritsyan were his friends, colleagues, students, relatives and close ones.
