The “Pedagogical University” Medal to the Director of the Renaissance School in Moscow

Today, the ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan presented the “Pedagogical University” medal to the Director of the Armenian Sunday-School of the Renaissance Charter School in Moscow - Ms. Shoghik Pahlevanyan.

The Armenian Sunday school “Renaissance” was established in 1988, by the initiative of the Permanent Representation of Armenia in Moscow and the Armenian Community, by the support of the Armenian Ministry of Enlightenment, and with the blessing of the Catholicos of All Armenians Vazgen I.

The mission of the school is to teach Armenian language and to introduce the rich Armenian historical and cultural heritage. It is also peculiar that the “Renaissance” is located on the Armenian lane in the building of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to the RF, which formerly used to be the building of the Lazarian Seminary.

The Rector congratulated on the 30th anniversary of establishment of the educational center and highly praised the role of the school in the life of the Armenian community in Moscow.

“Throughout three decades of activities the school has had multiple success and has made a huge contribution in Moscow city, where that are so many Armenians. Even though the school is open on Sundays, still its availability is significant as it is available to various age groups starting from preschool to more grown-up pupils for free”, mentioned Mr. Rouben Mirzakhanyan and wished new success and achievements to the school.

In her turn, Ms. Shoghik Pahlevanyan expressed acknowledgements for the high appreciation of her thirty years’ work and promised to continue her duty of preservation of the Armenian identity keeping the far-away Armenian families close to their homeland.

In her interview to the aspu.am the director confessed that she had received numerous awards, but this one was unique for its meaning since it was the first one she received in her homeland. The pedagogue, who has thirty years of experience, assures that the highest appraisal for her is the child that speaks Armenian on a foreign land.

“I often tell the pupils of our school you might simply be marked as Armenian, but when speaking in your native Armenian language, you seem to be christened as Armenian. This school creates and develops the identity of an Armenian child”, added Ms. Shoghik Pahlevanyan and expressed her hope for the “Renaissance” to keep conducting the sacred work of preservation of Armenian identity, as well as celebrating new glorious jubilees and making its asset to the centuries-old Russian – Armenian friendship.
