Therapists for Armenia

Starting from 8 May, the project “Therapists for Armenia” has initiated. Within the framework of this initiative the Lecturers, students and graduates of the Pedagogical University Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education Department of Occupational Therapy [Ergotherapy] are having a weekly online meeting with the therapists of the US NY Premier Healthcare Inc. and the Armenian American Sports Medicine Coalition of Los Angeles.

On this occasion, a closed group named “Therapists for Armenia” was also created on Facebook which has already 270 joined members from 5 countries, including 13 USA states. The members of the group are Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Logopedists, Social Workers, mental healthcare professionals, Psychologists, Special Pedagogues, Nurses. etc.

The series of webinars started with the first topic on “Parental experience of children with autism”, which was followed by the “Establishment of Occupational Therapy in the USA and Armenia”. Next week, the specialists of the group will attend the webinar about “Logopedics in the USA and in Armenia”.

According to the Co-Founder of the group Ms. Victoria Armineh Babikian, it is very important to have speakers from various countries of the world for the group members to get familiar with approaches practiced in different countries, their perspectives, similarities and differences of practice.

“I hope this group will become some kind of a bridge for therapists all around the world. Professionals, sharing such interests, are ready to make an exchange of knowledge for the improvement of the quality of disability and rehabilitation services”, Ms. Victoria Armineh Babikian mentioned in her interview to the aspu.am.
