University of A Coruña Professor of Armenian origin delivered lecture at ASPU

On September 15, Professor Artak Mkrtchyan, Doctor of Law at the  University of A Coruña, gave a public lecture at ASPU.

In his speech, he referred to the fundamentals of international law based on which the legal system of a modern international society is formed, presented its structure, actors, subjects and factors.

During the meeting, Professor Artak Mkrtchyan also spoke about international intergovernmental organizations, their characteristics and classification.

"Unlike national societies, relationships in international society do not have a vertical structure. States separately and together with other members of the international community develop norms, examine them and follow up their implementation," the speaker noted,” he said.

Being a graduate of Armenian State pedagogical University, Artak Mkrtchyan often gives lectures at the University.

The Doctor of International Law became convinced that students are interested in international law, but they have little or no notion of what international law is and what tools it has.

He thinks that in a country like Armenia that is small and has a lot of problems, it is extremely important to be well aware of international law. It should also have its place in courses in professional studies as well: "One must have a certain character and master the toolset to be able to apply it, if needed," Artak Mkrtchyan said in a conversation with aspu.am.
