Wisdom periodical included in Web of Science scientific citation indexing service

Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases are used worldwide for a variety of purposes, including research information retrieval and management, bibliometric studies, citation analysis, research evaluation, etc. Both databases provide a comprehensive citation search and offer author profiles which cover affiliations, number of publications and their bibliographic data, references, and details on the number of citations each published document has received. Each journal is rigorously evaluated prior to selection. The process is based on a number of factors ranging from the qualitative to the quantitative. These include basic publishing standards, editorial content, international focus and citation analysis.

Six Armenian journals – Astrophysics, Journal of Contemporary Physics, Journal of Contemporary Mathematical Analysis and Neurochemical Journal were included in Web of Science before that.

On May 15, 2018, ASPU’s Wisdom periodical was included in the Web of Science platform. The process of including the periodical in the database was initiated last year. Acceptable content for Web of Science is determined by an evaluation and selection process based on the following criteria: impact, influence, timeliness, peer review, and geographic representation.

Talking to aspu.am, Hasmik Hovhannisyan, editor-in-chief of Wisdom periodical and Head of the Chair of Philosophy and Logic after Academician Georg Brutian, said the requirements for including a journal in the famous database are very strict. She considers it a great achievement not only for the periodical and its staff, but also for the country, specifically ASPU.

Web of Science consists of several databases: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI), and Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). Wisdom has been included in the ESCI database, which is a relatively new edition in WoS core collection,” said Hasmik Hovhannisyan.

Together with SCIE, SSCI and AHCI, the ESCI database is rated as among the most important on the web.

Wisdom is included in the list of academic journals acceptable by the Supreme Certifying Commission of the Republic of Armenia for publishing articles encompassing propositions and results of dissertations. It is also registered in 15 peer-reviewed databases such as Scientific Indexing Services (SIS), Journal Impact Factor (JIF), Eurasian Scientific Journal Index (ESJI), Scientific Journal Impact Factor (SJIF), International Scientific Indexing (ISI), European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS), Advanced Scientific Index (ASI), eLIBRARY (РИНЦ), EBSCO, CYBERLENINKA, CROSSREF, PHILPAPERS, WORLDCAT Google Scholar. In April, it was included in Scopus, a multi-disciplinary abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature.

The editorial staff of the journal comprises 24 members 14 of whom are foreigners and 10 are Armenians.
