Recently, the Komitas Palace of Culture hosted literary matinée entitled “Hamo Sahyan: "Don't Mark Me Absent" (“Indz Batsaka Chdnek”) with participation of pupils of Vagharshapat Basic School № 9 named after Rafael Patkanyan.
At the invitation of Lusik Gasparyan, a teacher of Armenian Language and Literature who organized the event, participating in the matinee were also Prof. Suren Danielyan, Director of “Spyurq” (Diaspora) Scientific and Educational Centre at ASPU and Head of the Chair of New and Modern Literature and its Teaching Methods after Vache Partizuni, Naira Khachatryan and Knarik Abrahamyan, both Associate professors at the same Chair and MA students.
After the captivating recitation of Sahyan’s poems by schoolchildren and graduates, as well as dance and music performances the poet's son Nairi Sahyan recalled remarkable events from the writer's life and conveyed the master's message to everyone present in the hall: “Always walk the paths of justice, and tell good from bad.”
Maestro Sasun Paskevichyan, one of the best commentators of Sahyan's poetry, also delivered a speech at the event.
The day dedicated to Hamo Sahyan ended with a visit to St. Hripsime Church.
Professor Suren Danielyan noted that the Chair has long-standing ties with Basic School № 9 named after Rafael Patkanyan, and students’ participation in such events further deepens relationships between universities and schools.
