A three-cycle system of education (BA, MA and PhD) with relevant curricula and programmes was introduced at Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan in 2004-2005 academic year.
Enrollment in full-time Bachelor's degree programmes is carried out in accordance with the procedure approved by the RA Government (Rules for Admission to RA State and Non-State Higher Educational Institutions: Bachelor’s Degree Programmes).
Admission is organized based on the results of unified examinations. Applicants take unified, centralized examinations. Examinations are arranged and conducted by "Assessment and Testing Centre (ATC) which was established by the RA Government.
The admission process at Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan is organized and conducted by the ASPU Admissions Committee which provides applicants with all necessary information during the submission of documents. In order to participate in centralized and interuniversity examinations, applicants fill in an application form and submit the required documents to the University that they wish to apply first. Applicants can participate in competitions for two free and eight paid professions of one or several higher educational institutions by taking all examinations required for the given professions.
Ten Faculties of the University offer full-time Bachelor’s degree programmes in the following specialties. Full-time Master’s degree courses are offered by ten Faculties of Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan. Nine Faculties offer distance learning courses.
Enrollment in distance education courses (Bachelor's degree programmes) is carried out in accordance with the procedure approved by the RA Government (Rules for Admission to RA State Higher Educational Institutions: Distance Learning Programmes). The list of specialties and number of seats is approved by the RA Minister of Education and Science.
Applicants participate in competitions for one profession of the given higher educational institutions.
The Admissions Committee set up by the ASPU University organizes entrance examinations which are monitored by the RA Ministry of Education and Science. Entrance examinations are organized in compliance with the requirements of the unified, centralized and inter-university examinations as prescribed by full-time Bachelor’s degree programmes.
Students need to have a minimum of 120 credits for the second cycle of (Master's) degree which they complete in two years. The main requirement for the second cycle is the existence of the first cycle qualification. Master’s degree pogrammes usually offer specialized courses, training courses, interdisciplinary programmes and internships.
The programme ends with an defense of Master’s Thesis. Enrollment in Master's degree programmes is carried out in accordance with the procedure approved by the RA Government (Rule for Admission to RA Higher Educational Institutions: Master’s Degree Programmes).
