The Board of the University is a collegial body which is formed for a term of 5 years by rotation of part of the members of the Board. The number of the Board members is 24. The Board is formed from representatives of the faculty, students, the RA Government, the RA Ministry of Education and Science.
The main duties of the Council of the University are: approval of the University budget, strategies, the hearing and evaluation of the annual report of the President, the election of the President.
The Board elects the President of the Board for a fixed term. The President of the Board conducts the current meetings of the Board and follows up the implementation of tasks emanating from the decisions of the Board in the intervals between the meetings.
In 2010 , RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan was elected president of the Board of the University.
In 2014, Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Galust Sahakyan was elected president of the Board of the University.
David Gyurjinyan, Chairman of the Language Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, was elected Chairman of the Board in 2019.
