UNIVERSITY MISSION STATEMENT
The Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) after Khachatur Abovyan is a higher educational institution, with the primary mission to train and prepare under Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs educational specialists who are competitive in the local and international labor market in the sectors of education, social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, culture and the arts, have sound professional knowledge, abilities, skills, and social responsibility, are guided by and disseminate national, democratic and humanistic values. This is done by creating a student-centered learning environment, which is characterized by the conduct of courses developed on the basis of projects and real cases, and by providing flexible educational programs. After getting acquainted with local and international practices and conducting research in the sectors of education, social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, culture and the arts, ASPU students will be inspired to become specialists in the relevant sectors, which are continuously developing.
UNIVERSITY VISION
The ASPU’s vision is to make the University a leading institution for different strata of society which, in terms of the educational services provided in professional fields, helps enhance innovative skills, practical research capacity, knowledge-based creative thinking, ensures continuous development of an individual and instills national, moral, spiritual and universal values. The Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan will act as an educational and research institution that generates and initiates ideas for and models of pedagogical activities, as well as introduces innovative processes in the regional education space. Implementation of this vision will be ensured by conducting advanced and fundamental analysis of the perspectives for development of educational and cultural processes in the country, by exploring and modernizing the influence mechanisms of science and education in the economic, social and cultural sectors, by introducing principles of universal inclusion and by developing and effectively introducing new teaching strategies, which will lead to the transformation of the teaching profession, with broad mastery of the skills of the 21st century.

The University attaches importance to partnership interests and decision-making, upholds the principles of pluralism and democracy, fosters access to knowledge and freedom to choose forms and methods of learning and teaching. The logic of development of the Armenian State Pedagogical University is clear to see in the guidelines for collaboration and participation where the participation paradigm includes the efforts geared towards the formation of a new culture in the education system, both at the VEI (vocational education institution)-society level and at the society-VEI level, while the collaboration component includes a set of steps that contribute to the establishment of a relevant professional community hinged on interests for professional development.
