History Museum ASPU

The History Museum of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) was founded in 2004. It operates under the auspices of the University Council chaired by the University Rector, while its academic and methodological management is is administered by the Chair of Museology, Library Science, and Bibliography of the Faculty of Culture.

 

The current exhibition in the Museum opened in 2012 within the framework of events marking the 90th anniversary of the University.

 

The Museum has taken innovative steps, becoming the first museum in Armenia to launch an audio guide with the support of the international izi.TRAVEL platform. Visitors can take a virtual tour or listen to the exhibition in Armenian and English. The Museum also offers sign language interpretation, as well as Braille signage and tactile elements for visitors with visual impairments.

The Museum regularly organizes temporary exhibitions, showcasing interesting materials and facts based on the collections and artifacts of the University museum and other museums of the country.

 

Today, the Museum is an educational and cultural center. It organizes various events, international and republican conferences, training courses, educational programs and lectures for different age groups, publishes teaching manuals, provides students with informational materials, and regularly addresses issues related to cooperation between the Museum and schools.

 

In 2026, the University, represented by its History Museum, became a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

 

The museum continues to expand its cooperation with educational and cultural institutions, international museological organizations, associations, and museums, fostering the interest of students, researchers, and visitors in the history of the University and Armenian culture.
