Center for Education Quality Assurance and Development

The Center for Education Quality Assurance and Development is a structural unit of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), with the mission to support the ongoing improvement of the quality of education, the University’s strategic development and the management’s evidence-based decision-making.


The aim of the Center is to develop the University’s internal quality assurance system, assess the effectiveness of educational programs and learning processes, identify opportunities for improvement and foster the processes of institutional and program accreditation of the University.


Main directions for activities of the Center:

  • monitoring, assessment and internal audit of educational programs;
  •  analysis of curricula, learning outcomes and evaluation systems;
  •  assessment of the quality of teaching, graduation works and Master’s theses;
  • organizing of surveys among students, professors and other stakeholders and analysis of the findings;
  • conduct of international comparative studies of educational programs (benchmarking);
  • methodological and analytical support for accreditation processes;
  • development of quality assurance policies, procedures and methodical tools;
  • provision of professional consulting for the University’s administration and academic units.

The Center carries out its activities under the principles of objectivity, transparency, academic honesty, cooperation, responsibility and ongoing improvement, by closely cooperating with quality officers designated in Faculties and Chairs.

The Center conducts calculation of the cost price of educational programs, quantitative analysis of the workload, international benchmarking of educational programs, class observations, monitoring of graduation works and Master’s theses, as well as surveys of students, professors and academic units.

The action plan for implementation of the recommendations for accreditation and the mechanisms for internal audit of educational programs have been developed.
