The Library of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) was established on November 7, 1922, with collection of just 190 books. Over time, its collection expanded significantly and was enriched by around 4,000 books received from Yerevan State University, as well as 3,000 books on Armenian studies and history received from the manuscript repository of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

The library has been headed by the following people:

Mushegh Gasparyan (1022-1939)

Dukhik Movsisyan (1939–1961)

Adrine Abelyan (1961–1995)

Tigran Hovhannisyan (1995–2009)

Since 2009, the director of the Library has been Tigran Petrosyants, a bibliographer, historian, cultural scholar, and journalist.

In 1989, the Library was granted the status of a scientific library. As of January 1, 2026, its printed collection, including specialized and fiction books, textbooks, instructional manuals, journals, periodicals, maps, dissertations, and newspapers, comprised 380,320 items.

Today, the Library serves around 19,100 readers who have access to:

 One circulation (lending) department

 Six reading halls – three large and three small

 Specialized study rooms

The Library is equipped with modern technological facilities and equipment.

The Library's collection is replenished through university funds and donations. It also has an electronic database containing more than 300,000 digital resources, including textbooks, study guides, academic articles, and dissertations in Armenian, Russian, and other foreign languages.
