Light and Shadow: ASPU hosts photo exhibition  

The photography exhibition titled “Light and Shadow” and organized by the Chair of Camerawork, Artistic Photography, and Socio-Cultural Activity, ended at the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) on March 4.`                

 

The exhibition featured 120 photos the 36 participants – all students and graduate of the University’s Artistic Photography Department.   

 

The head and lecturers of the Chair emphasized the importance of the exhibition noting that it gave an opportunity to present students' theoretical abilities and technical knowledge, while the themes and depth of the photographs once again prove that the specialty has had significant growth at the university over the past decade.

 

Lecturer Armen Khachatyan emphasized that the exhibition is available to a wide range of people through online viewing, at the ASPU Google Site Photo Gallery, via QR code. By the way, the exhibition is regularly enriched with new photos on the online platform.

 

Anna Stepanyan, an ASPU student majoring in Artistic Photography had eight photographs displayed at the exhibition. She says  that black-and-white works which are considered a simple contrast, in fact reflect other colours and human values  which should be truly seen and not merely looked at.

 

Professor Ruben Yerzinkyan, Head of the Chair of Camerawork, Artistic Photography, and Socio-Cultural Activity, gave certificates of appreciation to the participants of the exhibition.

 

Present at the event were also guests and students of the Photography Department of the State College of Culture and Art named after Charles Aznavour and Yerevan Regional State College №1.

 

“A photo is not merely a shot; it is the preservation of a moment, transmission of emotions, creation of a story, expression of creative pursuits, and by pressing the button, the photographer opens his/her inner world to the world.” This is the way the guests present reacted to the photographs. They emphasized the importance of the event in terms of developing the ability to think and feel, the aesthetic taste, and also the ability to see the world in a unique way—discovering new colours and lights.
