The Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) hosted the “European Union for Youth: Let’s Talk About What Unites Us” interactive discussion meeting, which was moderated by Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos.

The meeting was about cultural diversity, the importance of dialogue and the prospects for development of EU-Armenia relations. It aimed to create a platform for open dialogue between students and professors, present the European programs and initiatives designed for youth, as well as promote cooperation and exchange of experience.

ASPU Acting Rector Lilit Mkrtchyan considered it a great honor to host the Head of the EU Delegation at the University and underscored the importance of the opportunity to engage in dialogue.

Lilit Mkrtchyan emphasized that the Armenian State Pedagogical University is the ‘smithy’ for the education of future teachers and a platform for their development where special importance is attached to the values underlying the EU-Armenia cooperation.

Lilit Mkrtchyan attached importance to the University’s active cooperation with EU educational institutions and noted that several students and professors successfully participate in the EU-funded Erasmus+ Mobility Programmes, which provide the opportunity to not only become familiar with the progressive practice of European universities, but also introduce in Armenia a new culture of education for the implementation of an innovative vision, the creators and beneficiaries of which are the students themselves.

Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos attached importance to the role of the Armenian State Pedagogical University in educating responsible citizens, touched upon the youth programs and initiatives of the EU and the priorities for cooperation, and assured that the European Union is Armenia’s reliable partner, with the underlying common values, including democracy and human rights.

In response to students’ questions, the Ambassador urged them to be brave, to follow their dreams, to draw no boundaries, to think about their goals and opportunities and to learn something every day.
