A dozen pupils of the Basic College (High School) of the Armenian State Pedagogical University and other schools today were on a study visit in the Faculty of History and Social Science.

The aim of the visit was to enhance the pupils’ professional orientation, expand their knowledge of historical studies and introduce them to the educational environment at the University.

The pupils were greeted by the Faculty’s Dean, Candidate of Historical Sciences Edgar Hovhannisyan, and this was followed by a theme-based lecture entitled “The Armenian Genocide”.

Professor Samvel Poghosyan presented the fundamental events associated with the specified phase in history, their cause-and-effect relationships and the assessments given by contemporary historians.

In another lecture entitled “Why One Should Study History”, Candidate of Historical Sciences Armine Yeprikyan attached importance to the role of history in not only recognition of the past, but also critical thinking, civic awareness and shaping of identity.

The visit helped promote the pupils’ educational interests and strengthen the university-school cooperation, helping create new platforms for cooperation in the science and education sectors.
