As part of a joint initiative by the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) and the University’s Trade Union, an educational and study tour was organized to Aragatsotn region. During the visit, ASPU professors delivered lectures combining theoretical knowledge with field-based learning.

The participants had the opportunity to learn about the region’s historical and cultural heritage on site, listen to lectures, and participate in discussions.


Ashot Piliposyan, Professor of the Chair of Armenian History at ASPU, introduced the group to the Dashtadem Fortress, one of the unique fortification complexes in Armenia, its foundation, rich history, strategic significance, and architectural features, emphasizing that it is one of the notable defensive structures of the medieval period.


He emphasized the significance of the fortress in Armenia’s historical and cultural heritage and highlighted the importance of the project aimed at the preservation and restoration of the complex.


Varduhi Hovhannisyan, Assistant Professor at the Chair of Geography and its Teaching Methods, spoke about the geographical location of Dashtadem village and the fortress of the same name, the area’s territorial characteristics, natural conditions, climate, vegetation cover, fauna, as well as about the altitudinal zonation of landscapes on the southern and southwestern slopes of Mount Aragats.


She stressed that similar field visits are important in the learning process, as they provide an opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge with observations carried out in a real environment.

The event was attended by the leadership of the Talin community and representatives of the community’s educational institutions, including teachers and pupils of Dashtadem Secondary School named after Gagik Baghdasaryan, Nerkin Bazmaberd Secondary School after Esayi Asatryan, Talin Basic School No. 2, and Hako Basic School.

An agreement was reached between the University and the community to expand cooperation, implement joint programs, and exchange experience. The parties also discussed the prospects for developing cooperation in the field of education, particularly implementation of joint educational programs and introduction of new teaching formats.

On the sidelines of the visit, ASPU representatives visited other historical and cultural sites as well.

Organizers say that more visits will be organized in the future, contributing to the improvement of education quality and strengthening of university–community ties.
