A 20-credit teacher certification course with modules focused on preschool pedagogy, psychology, educational and methodological skills started at the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU).

Overall, 101 teachers from Yerevan and different regions of the country will participate in the course to be held from June 2 to August10.

On the first day of the program, the participants were welcomed by Acting Rector of ASPU Lilit Mkrtchyan. The latter considered the participants' choice of the experienced and professional team of the University to be important and binding.

The acting rector spoke about the prerequisites for being a competitive specialist in the modern world, the ongoing reforms in the system of education, and the importance of becoming an active participant in these processes. She advised the participants to take their studies with responsibility, cooperate with each other, share and exchange experiences.

The ASPU official also referred to the special importance of the preschool age, noting that it is at this stage that the foundations of a child’s value system are formed. Lilit Mkrtchyan emphasized the role of preschool education in community development and stressed the importance of applying the knowledge in practice.

“Your successful experience will contribute not only to the improvement of the educational process but also to the development of our country. Every important change begins with education, and at the heart of education is the teacher,” she stressed in her speech.

Armenuhi Manukyan, Acting Head of the Chair of Preschool Pedagogy and Methodology, noted that the large number of participants in the second phase of the program is the best evidence of the effectiveness of the previous courses and the increase in confidence.

She said the University’s professional team will continue its mission with the same dedication, commitment, friendly and supportive attitude, helping participants develop their professional knowledge and skills, while at the same time contributing to the replenishment of specialists in preschool education.

Svetlana Marutyan, Professor of the Chair of Preschool Pedagogy and Methodology, also congratulated the participants on becoming part of this important and responsible process. She expressed confidence that the program will not only enrich their professional knowledge and enhance their pedagogical competencies, but will also deepen their love for and commitment to the profession they have chosen.
