From alumni to leaders in the sector – Directors of museums visit ASPU

Acting Rector of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Lilit Mkrtchyan today had a working meeting with the directors of a number of museums in Yerevan.
The participants of the meeting are alumni of the ASPU of different years, and today, they make remarkable contributions to the development of the sector through their professional activities.
The Armenian State Pedagogical University has launched the process of forming a unified base of alumni, with the aim of maintaining and strengthening the bonds with the University’s alumni, establishing new platforms for cooperation and creating an environment in which every alumnus can foster the development of the university community through his or her experience, knowledge and professional achievements.
This was the first meeting in this format, and the focus was on increasing interest in the profession of museologist, making it more inviting and competitive for young people, predetermining the actions aimed at popularizing the sector, as well as revaluing the educational mission of museums.
Touching upon the process of educational reforms, Lilit Mkrtchyan underscored the importance of the cooperation between the University and employers, noting that only through the active involvement of the professional community will it be able to implement the sector-specific reforms effectively.
She attached importance to the investment of necessary resources, modern approaches and professional capabilities in the University for ongoing improvement of the quality of education.
During the meeting, the museums’ directors talked about their professional activities, the programs being implemented in the sector and made a number of proposals for development of the profession, improvement of educational programs and more effective organization of the preparation of future specialists.
The parties attached importance to enshrining the institutions’ partnership through a memorandum and the continuity of such meetings, viewing them as an effective platform for experience exchange and the strengthening of ties.
