On June 9, 2026, the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) and the National Center of Educational Technologies (NCET) of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation in the field of education, promote innovative educational initiatives, and introduce international best practices.

The document was signed by Acting Rector of ASPU Lilit Mkrtchyan and Director of NCET Artak Poghosyan.

The memorandum is aimed at improving the quality of education, developing programs for educational and professional advancement, introducing innovative methods, enhancing the role of schools and the image of educators, and expanding cooperation in the field of teacher education.

In addition, the memorandum envisages exchange of knowledge and best practices in the field of educational technologies, organization of training courses, seminars, and professional discussions, support for the introduction of innovative educational methods and digital tools, as well as continuous development of professional competencies of future teachers.

The memorandum is also aimed at developing digital, methodological, and intercultural competencies of future teachers, university lecturers, and practicing educators; strengthening the role of teacher-trainers as mentors and professional guides and promoting the dissemination of best practices in the field of education.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the involvement of ASPU student teachers and lecturers in the European School Education Platform and the eTwinning community, including the “eTwinning for Future Teachers” group. There are also plans to develop and implement international eTwinning projects based on the Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach, which will enable students and lecturers to actively participate in international educational cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Tatevik Yapunjyan, Coordinator of the eTwinning Office in Armenia.

Let us add that the Armenian State Pedagogical University is the only university in Armenia that has been a member of the eTwinning community of the European School Education Platform for a long time.

Tatevik Yapunjyan provided a detailed presentation of the opportunities offered by the eTwinning platform, the activities planned for the near future, and prospects for further cooperation. Representatives of the University shared their expectations from the platform, presented the work done, and discussed the possibilities of using eTwinning in educational, research, and professional development processes.

Acting Rector of ASPU Lilit Mkrtchyan emphasized the role of the platform in the study and localization of international experience, advanced pedagogical methodologies, and innovative educational approaches, stressing that they contribute to improving the quality of education.
