The Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) today hosted Professor Yeprem Mehranian, who holds a PhD in Education and has served in the Department of Professional Learning & Innovation of the College of Education at Georgia College.

Today he is conducting a course at one of the universities in Armenia and is a member of a pedagogy research group.

The aim of the meeting with ASPU Acting Rector Lilit Mkrtchyan and Vice-Rector for Education and Science Mariam Ispiryan was to discuss the issues and challenges in education and pedagogy and present proposals regarding the learning process.

Mehranian also drew parallels between the American and Armenian educational systems.

Yeprem Mehranian noted that he would like to learn more about the educational process at the Armenian State Pedagogical University, adding that he is ready for close cooperation, as well as to share his knowledge and experience and assist in the University’s activities and the implementation of sector-specific reforms.

Lilit Mkrtchyan attached importance to Professor Mehranian’s viewpoints on the development of learners’ critical thinking, value system and motivation, the curricula, the role of teachers, as well as the use of artificial intelligence during courses and the potential changes and voiced hope that they will jointly consider the proposals regarding the practical steps soon.

Touching upon the issues of the educational process, Lilit Mkrtchyan emphasized that it will be possible to ensure improvement of the process in case the potential mechanisms and methods are developed and introduced.

The ASPU Acting Rector attached importance to Yeprem Mehranian’s meeting with the University’s lecturers and professors which will be mutually effective from the viewpoint of experience exchange and proposals for solutions to a number of problems.
