An international conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War was held at the North Ossetian State University (NOSU) named after K.L. Khetagurov in Vladikavkaz, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Russia.

The conference entitled "The Great Patriotic War and Russian People" brought together scientists from Russia, Armenia, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Georgia. About 80 reports were delivered in three subdivisions.

The event was held at the initiative of the Fatherland History Foundation, the Russian Historical Society, and NOSU. Among the participants were also lecturers from the Faculty of History and Social Science of Armenians State Pedagogical University (ASPU), including Armenians State Pedagogical University were also invited to the conference: Professors of the Chair of Armenian History Avetis Harutyunyan and Samvel Poghosyan, Associate Professors Susanna Khachatryan and Mariam Yeghyan, and Associate Professor of the Chair of World History Nelly Minasyan.

The ASPU lecturers delivered reports entitled “The Caucasus and Soviet Armenia in the Plans of Nazi Germany and Turkey during the Great Patriotic War," " Nurturing Patriotism through Teaching the History of the First and Second World Wars," "Memorials to the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War in Armenia: Ethnography, History, and Patriotic Education," "Contribution of the Armenian People to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War: Preservation of Historical Truth and Connection of Generations," “Ideology of Pan-Turkism during World War II.”
