Chair of Armenian Language and its Teaching Methods after Ararat Gharibyan

The Chair of Armenian Language and its Teaching Methods is one of the most important Armenological centres in Armenia. The Chair was founded in 1932 by Ararat Gharibyan.

In different years, the Chair was headed by famous scientists, including Ararat Gharibyan, an academician of the RA National Academy of Sciences, Ashot Abrahamyan, a corresponding member of the RA NAS, Vagharshak Kosyan, Honored Worker of Science, Professor, Ashot Marutyuan, Candidate of Science in Philology, Professor, and Hovhannes Nazaretyan, Candidate of Science in Philology, Associate Professor.

In 2009, the Chair was renamed after its founder - academician Ararat Gharibyan. The lecturers of the Chair always participate in different scientific conferences and present reports.

Research in the Chair is carried out in different areas, including theoretical science, methodology, lexicography, compilation of textbooks and manuals, etc.

The Chair also focuses on important issues related to Theory of Modern Armenian (L. Khachatryan), History of Armenian Language (Ed. Mkrtchyan, L. Khachatryan), Stylistics (Yu. Davtyan), General Linguistics (L. Khachatryan), Lexicography (L. Khachatryan, G. Khalatyan, R. Julfayan) and other fields.
