The Faculty was established in 1965. The majority of Armenian Language and Literature teachers in Armenia and the Diaspora are graduates of the Faculty of Philology.
The Faculty has been and remains an important center for Armenian Studies. Over the years, famous Armenologists have worked at the Faculty. A number of famous Diaspora Armenian figures have given lectures at the Faculty. Also, numerous meetings have been organized with writers and literary critics. Today, authors of school and university textbooks and handbooks work at the Faculty. Lecturers of the Faculty participate in teacher training courses. The Faculty provides educational materials and literature to schools.
Students of the Faculty are involved in the activities of the Student Council and Student Scientific Society (SSS). Together, they organize joint events, including mind games, roundtables, debates on environmental, scientific and social issues, public events, participate in interuniversity scientific and entertainment events, visit museums and exhibitions.The Faculty trains and prepares teachers of Armenian Language and Literature. Graduates of the Faculty can work in schools, centers offering language and training courses, publishing houses, and other educational institutions.
