The Academic Council of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) chaired by the University Rector deals with issues of organizing, planning and managing teaching and methodological, scientific research activities of the University.
➜ The decisions of the Council are binding and obligatory for all University subdivisions, officials, employees, and students. The term of office of the Academic Council is five years, and sessions are convened at least once a month.
➜ The Academic Council approves its regulations. The Council's activity is organized by an annual work plan, which is discussed and approved by the Council.
➜ The Academic Council discusses the list of specialties in the University, approves the curricula by specialty, which are submitted to the Ministry; discusses the main and perspective directions of the University’s scientific activities, listens to scientific reports on the results of scientific research and educational activities in the University, approves the list of the University's teaching staff, organizes competitions for vacant positions, awards the academic titles of Associate Professor and Professor, honorary titles of the University, prizes, nominal scholarships, university medals, diplomas, nominates candidates for republican and international awards and titles, approves election regulations, discusses the University's international cooperation programs and draft international agreements to be concluded by the university, approves model regulations for the University's structural divisions, etc.
➜ The Council’s standing committees are established by the decision of the Academic Council, on a rotating basis and for a term of 3-5 years. Below are the standing committees:

✔ Competition Committee on Natural Sciences and Mathematics
✔ Competition Committee on Humanities
✔ Competition Committee for Culture-related SpecialtiesWithin its jurisdiction, the Academic Council, can establish temporary committees to address specific issues.
