The Chair of Social Sciences was established in 2019 on the basis of the Chair of Political Science and History of Law and the Chair of Jurisprudence and its Teaching Methods.

The Chair carries out its activity mainly in the fields of political science, law, and social studies.

The Chair’s main research areas include political science, law, democracy and its contemporary manifestations (contemporary interpretations of models), issues of Armenian legal and political thought and political culture, constitutionalism and sectoral law, civil society, and social science as an object of comprehensive research.

One candidate of Political Science, one candidate of Philosophy, and one candidate of Law, three candidates of Law with the academic title of Associate Professor, and two lecturers work in the Chair.

Lecturers of the Chair are well-recognized specialists in the country, including

PhD in Political Science, Associate Professor H. Sukiasyan, PhD in Philosophy, Associate Professor L. Sarvazyan, PhD in Law A. Pkhiryan, PhD in Law, Associate Professor A. Shukuryan.

Lecturers of the Chair are authors of monographs, textbooks, and scientific articles. They organize and conduct intra-university and national-wide conferences as well as seminar discussions.

The Chair studies issues, which are of vital importance for the state and society and conducts research related to these topics. Lecturers of the Chair also disseminate the results of their research in various formats.

The Chair closely collaborates with other chairs in Armenia and abroad, as well as with the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. Some lecturers of the Chair also supervise dissertations and are involved in various expert commissions.
