In the mid-1930s, the Chair of Foreign Literature separated from the joint Chair of Literatures of the Faculty of Philology and was renamed in 2013.

Well-known scholars, including academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia Aram Grigoryan, as well as Professors Paruyr Sahakyan, Eduard Nuralov, Karlen Matinyan, Tigran Simyan and others, have worked in the Chair in different periods.

The Chair always shows active participation in various scientific and educational events, and receives diplomas and letters of appreciation.

Since 2007, the Chair has been hosting scientific conferences and publishing materials. Representatives of various Chairs of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), V. Brusov State University and the Institute of Literature named after M. Abeghyan, as well as applicants and Master’s Degree students of the ASPU participate in the inter-university scientific conferences. The materials of scientific conferences are published in the Yearbooks of the Chair.
