Chair of Informatics and its Teaching Methods

The Chair of Informatics and its Teaching Methods was founded in 1987 as part of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, and Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, longstanding Head of the Chair Mkrtich Sahradyan made a great contribution to the establishment of the Chair.

In 2011, the Chair was renamed the Chair of Informatics and its Teaching Methods and was included in the composition of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics.

The Chair prepares professionals with a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Pedagogy specializing in “Informatics”; they can work as informatics teachers in schools, and as specialists of programming, computing networks and information technology within organizations and companies.

The Chair actively participates in the informatization of the University, the automation of the educational process, including the creation of a professional base required for electronic educational materials, courses and distance learning in various professions.

The Chair currently has 2 professors, 6 associate professors, 1 assistant and 7 lecturers. The professors of the Chair actively participate in republican seminars and scientific conferences, as well as the seminars and scientific conferences held in foreign countries.

The professors and lecturers of the Chair are authors of several scientific, educational and educational-methodical works (35 educational and educational-methodical manuals, nearly 260 articles) and publications.

The Chair of Informatics and its Teaching Methods has 9 computer classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art computer equipment, electronic blackboards, projectors, as well as local and Internet networks.

The professors of the Chair perform laboratory and practical tasks and teach the full-time students and students of the distance learning systems in the Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree Programs of all Faculties of the University.
