Chair of Museology, Library Studies and Bibliographies
In 1970, the Chair of Library Studies and Bibliographies was established, and, based on this, the second professional department — “Museum Work and Preservation of Monuments” — was established in 2001. In 2009, it was separated, and was established as a separate professional Chair with the same name.

In 2014, the current Chair — the Chair of Museology, Library Studies and Bibliographies — was established following the merger of the Chair of Library Studies and Bibliographies and the Chair of Museum Work and Preservation of Monuments.

In different years, the Chair has been headed by well-known specialists of the sector, including Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Hrachya Kostikyan; PhD in Historical Sciences, Professor Khikar Barseghyan; Candidates of Philological Sciences, Associate Professors Balabek Melyan and Knarik Korkotyan; PhD in Philological Sciences, Professor Gagik Sukiasyan; PhD in Historical Sciences, Professor Lavrenti Barseghyan.

Since 2015, the Chair is under the direction of PhD in Historical Sciences, Professor, former Director of the National Archives of Armenia Amatuni Virabyan.

The department’s alumni work in museums, libraries, the National Archives of Armenia, the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran), as well as educational and cultural institutions and news outlets, holding also administrative positions.
