The Scientific Center for Research on Issues in History Teaching in Armenia and the Diaspora (code: N 10-5/TB-24) has been operating within the Faculty of History and Social Science of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) since January 2024.

The Center is funded as part of the target programs for scientific and scientific-technical activities of the Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia.

The key objective of the Center is to conduct a complex study of the issues in history teaching at Armenian educational institutions in Armenia and the Diaspora, as well as identify and coordinate the existing issues.

The Center has set the objective to study the international practice and localize the findings, help increase effectiveness of the resources for using modern digital and information technologies in history teaching and introduce the achieved results in the educational system, as well as assist in improving history teaching at Armenian educational institutions in Armenia and the Diaspora.

There are 13 specialists of the ASPU involved in the activities of the Center, which is under the direction of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Harutyun Papoyan.

Every year, the Scientific Center for Research on Issues in History Teaching in Armenia and the Diaspora organizes and hosts an international scientific conference under the title “Current Issues in History Teaching”.

Through cooperation with “Banimatsia” Film Production Company, the specialists of the Center have prepared over a dozen short animated films devoted to various interesting topics related to the history of the Armenian people.

Established in 2024 through the Center’s efforts and published twice a year, the scientific journal “Issues in History Teaching” is the first and only one of its kind and in terms of the topics of the articles.

The findings of the Center’s studies are published in books or in the form of scientific articles found in scientific journals in Armenia, as well as in a number of journals featured in international scientific-informational databases (Web of Science or Scopus).
