Edgar Hovhannisyan, PhD in History, Associate Professor, has been the Dean of the Faculty of History and Social Science at the Armenian State Pedagogical University since 2015.


By profession, he is a historian. His academic interests focus on the history of the Armenian Diaspora, Armenia–Diaspora relations, and the history of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia.


Dr. Hovhannisyan has been teaching for many years at the Chair of Armenian History within the same faculty. In addition to academic institutions in Armenia, he has also taught at a number of foreign universities, including Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest, Leipzig University in Germany, Keele University in the United Kingdom, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, among others.


He has also been a guest lecturer at different Armenian studies and historical research centers.


As a result of his active efforts, in 2016 the Department of Armenian Studies was established at Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest.


He is a member of several professional councils, including the Specialized Council 004 on "History of Armenia" of the Higher education and Science committee of RA operating at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Science of Armenia, the Scientific Council of the History Museum of Armenia, and the Expert council of the All-Armenian Fund for financing Armenian studies, etc.


Dr. Hovhannisyan is the author of about 70 scientific and methodological publications and one monograph.
