Faculty of Art Education/Chair of Fine Arts


Professor Ara Hakobyan, Doctor of Art Studies, has served as Dean of the Faculty of Art Education at the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) since 2017 and, since 2024, as Acting Head of the Department of Fine Arts.


A painter and art historian by profession, he is widely recognized for his contributions to the field.


In 2001, Professor Hakobyan completed advanced training at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts. He has been a member of the Artists’ Union of Armenia since 1999 and, since 2021, a member of the Tekeyan Cultural Union of Armenia.


He has held solo exhibitions in Armenia and abroad, and has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions. In the exhibition marking the 70th anniversary of the Artists’ Union of Armenia, he was awarded the “Best Work” prize. In 2019, he received the Vahan Tekeyan Prize in the Fine Arts category.


Professor Hakobyan is the author of numerous scholarly articles, methodological manuals, monographs, and illustrated books. He is also the co-author of the Fine Arts and Art textbooks for general education schools.
