15 choirs on the stage of the Pedagogical

Within the framework of the International Day of Choral Art, the Pedagogical University welcomed 5 children’s and 10 youth single–sex and mixed choirs.

This year the concert, which had also been organised throughout the former 5 years, was exceptional with its scope, comprising 15 choirs with 375 participants from Yerevan, Etchmiadzin, Ijevan, Aparan, Sisian and Agarak.

During the concert the “Little Singers of Armenia”, choirs from the Sayat-Nova Musical School, Musical School after Al. Spendarian, the Tavush Diocese Children’s Choir, the Choir of the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan and other participants each performed two compositions one from Armenian and one from European composers.

At the concert organised by the initiative of the RA Ministry of Culture, the Armenian Choir Conductors Association, the Little Singers Association of Armenia and the ASPU Faculty of Art Education Chair of Music Pedagogy, the Pedagogical University was represented by the “Ave Maria” choir.

It is particularly remarkable that the 15 choirs jointly performed the “Aha tsagets karmir arev” [How the Red Sun Rose] by Komitas.

What is more, a live connection was made to with the Agarak and Sisian Musical Schools as a result of which the latters were able to present their performances and catch up with the flow of the concert.

In addition, a quiz –game was organised during the concert the winners of which received various prizes.

Among those present at the concert were the Gevorgyan Theological Seminary Inspector Rev. Fr. Garegin Hambardzumyan, the Spiritual Leader of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, the Chairman of the Musical Company Davit Ghazaryan, Composer Yervand Yerkanyan, the president of the “Armenian Choir Conductors Association” NGO Christine Sheroyan, and other guests.

The ASPU Associate Professor of the Chair of Music Education, the Vice-President of the Armenian Choir Conductors Association Artashes Baburyan highlighted the importance of organising such an event and added that the performance of 15 choirs in a concert ensured a rich creative atmosphere.
And last but not least, the Artistic Director and the Chief Conductor of the Choir “Little Singers of Armenia”, also the Director of the Sayat–Nova Musical School Tigran Heqeqyan congratulated the participants and thanked the Pedagogical University for hospitality.
