INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
“NERSISYAN SCHOOL IN TBILISI AND EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL LIFE IN CAUCASUS IN THE 19TH CENTURY AND THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE 20TH CENTURY”

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Nersisyan School, upon the initiative of Khachatur Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical University (Yerevan) and Caucasus University (Tbilisi), between October 17 and 18, 2024, the international conference “Nersisyan School in Tbilisi and Educational and Cultural Life in Caucasus in the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th century” will be held at ASPU (Address: 5 Alek Manukyan, 4th floor, Conference Hall).

The aims of the agenda to cover at the conference will be related to the history of Nersisyan School, the Cultural and Educational Life of Armenians and the South Caucasus in general, as well as Armenian-Georgian relations.

The special interest groups are expected to deliver their contributions upon the following theme-based split-up:
• Episodes of the History of Nersisyan School,
• Outstanding Graduates of Nersisyan School,
• Role of Nersisyan School in the Educational Life of Armenians,
• Educational and Cultural Life in Caucasus in the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th century,
• Armenian-Georgian Educational and Cultural Associations,
• Characteristics of Russia’s Educational and Cultural Policy in the region in the 19th century and in the first quarter of the 20th century.

The working languages of the conference will be Armenian, Georgian, Russian, and English. The papers submitted should be unpublished before the conference. The average time granted for introducing the paper is up to 20 minutes.

Once reviewed and approved, all the papers submitted will be published in a separate volume.

The participation in the conference will proceed through the following phases:

• By July 1, 2024, the researchers should have the application form filled out and submitted to the Organizational Committee of the conference via an email addressed to [email protected],
• By July 15, 2024, the researchers approved to participate should have been duly informed about their participation,
• By August 20, 2024, the researchers should have submitted the papers to be presented in line with the format provided beforehand.
