Portuguese professors visiting ASPU

Professors Isabel Costa and Maria Matos from the University of Aveiro in Portugal are on a working visit to the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU).

The foreign colleagues had a meeting with the lecturers and professors of the Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education, and among the attendees was Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, Associate Professor of the Chair of Special Pedagogy and Psychology Araksia Svajyan.

By the way, the cooperation between the two institutions is not new — there have been reciprocal visits within the scope of the cooperation, and innovations in the spheres of logopaedics and surdopedagogy, as well as ideas for joint projects have been considered.

During today’s meeting, taking into account the educational reforms and the changes made in curricula, the parties considered the opportunities for joint supervision of the Master’s theses in the professions of ergotherapy and logopaedics. In the context of universal inclusiveness, they touched upon the importance of the rehabilitative activities being carried out for the three preschool-age groups, the development of projects and the support to implementation of the latter, as well as the need for cooperation within the scope of this.

The attendees regretted to note that in Armenia the rehabilitative activities for persons with swallowing disorders following stroke and persons in need of early logopaedic intervention are often not properly carried out, and the environmental adjustments in Armenia are also unfavorable.

ASPU Vice-Rector for HR Management and International Cooperation Marianna Harutyunyan talked about the opportunities for reciprocal printing in academic journals and the study for students of the ASPU at the University of Aveiro in Portugal through the Erasmus+ Program.

Let us mention that Portuguese Professors Isabel Costa and Maria Matos will deliver lecturers for the students and professors of the Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education. In their lectures, they will talk about the pedagogical-psychological support provided to children when there is family-centered intervention, as well as issues regarding the advancement of support for children with hearing disorders.
