Presentation of Professor Gevorg Karapetyan’s Monograph

Today, the presentation of the monograph headed “Natural and Man-made Disasters, Conditions of their Occurrence, Forms of Expression, and Management Opportunities” by Doctor of Geography, Professor Gevorg Karapetyan took place at the ASPU scientific library.

The Professor’s monograph includes information about causes of various disasters, occurrence and forms of expressions thereof, caused damages and key results of modern management issues.

Among those present at the presentation were the Professors colleagues from the ASPU and other universities, scientists, students, and geographers. The Director of the Library Tigran Petrosyants congratulated the Professor on the presentation of the book and outlined that it was symbolic to organize this event on the International Education Day.

“This is the work of many years aimed at a very important fact – the preservation of the World. We are all concerned with various disasters and consequences thereof; various forms of fights against them are also well discussed in the book”, mentioned the Director of the Library Tigran Petrosyants.
In his turn, the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography Ruzanna Sadoyan congratulated on the 80th birthday of the Professor and his 55th anniversary of scientific and pedagogical activities.

“Writing a book, a monograph is not an end in itself. If the work is not used and remains in the library, it means it is not successful. I am assured that this manual is not one of those”, mentioned the Dean and spoke about the Professor’s greatest contribution in science, specifically in the sphere of mapping and geodesy.

The Editor of the book, Candidate of Geography, Associate Professor Nerses Samvelyan in his turn mentioned that he had been familiar with the image of a teacher since school, but he had got acquainted with the character of a lecturer only when he started communicating with Gevorg Karapetyan and heard his lectures. The latter characterized the Professor’s scientific work specifically from the perspective of contextual observations and highlighted the importance of the book, presenting all forms of management and mitigation of the daily deepening crisis.

“We need to value and appreciate what humans created, what they did. The presentation of this book is the best occasion to appropriately praise Professor Gevorg Karapetyan”, added Nerses Samvelyan.

In addition, on the occasion of presentation of the monograph the Professor’s colleagues from various universities highly appreciated his scientific and pedagogical activities and the significance of the book. They particularly stressed out the factor of practical importance of the book and hoped that it would allow them to manage issues caused by disasters.

To conclude, it should be noted that this manual is prepared for MA and PhD students of Geography, environmentalists, ecologists and all those interested in issues of contemporary processes taking place on the geographic diaphragm.
