On May 29, a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) was signed between Armenian State Pedagogical University and the Deaf-blind Support Foundation So-edinenie (Con-nection).
The document will enable the sides to collaborate in a number of fields, including cooperation on online academic programmes, exchange of staff members, as well as creation of laboratories and support centers.
The sides will also implement exchange of experience, innovative, diagnostic, psychological and pedagogical programs, will develop modern forms and models of providing assistance within the framework of support programs for individuals with hearing and visual impairments and multiple disabilities, as well as their family members.
President of the Deaf-blind Support Foundation So-edinenie (Con-nection) Dmitry Polikanov is sure that the cooperation will be very dynamic, effective and useful for lecturers and students. He also touched upon cooperation between the European and American universities, and its results.
He also spoke about the annual Master's Conference and Summer Schools organized by the Deaf-blind Support Foundation So-edinenie (Con-nection) and expressed desire to cooperate also in that sphere.
The representatives of the Foundation were also hosted by ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan who expressed hope that the new partnership will contribute to the advancement of special education professionals.
Talking to aspu.am, Tereza Azatyan, Head of the Chair of Special Education and Psychology, said the prospects of cooperation were laid down during their participation in annual conferences organized by the Foundation.
“We discussed issues of mutual interest, especially those concerning hearing and visual impairments, which are less covered and studied in our country. This was a good opportunity to reveal the problems in the sphere and achieve their solution, "said Tereza Azatyan.
